Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Your Data, Your Control
Pigeon IQ is committed to protecting the privacy of pigeon fanciers. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
2. Loft Locations and Coordinates
We understand that the exact location of your loft is sensitive information.
- Private by Default: Your exact GPS coordinates are kept securely in our database and are never displayed publicly on your profile.
- Race Controllers: If you join a Federation or Club on Pigeon IQ, your Race Controller may use your coordinates solely for the purpose of calculating race distances and corridors.
- Public Display: On your public profile, we only display your Town, City, or general region (e.g., "Manchester, UK").
3. What We Collect
- Account Info: Name, email, and authentication data (via Google or Email signup).
- Loft Data: Bird records, pedigrees, ring numbers, and uploaded photos.
- Social Data: Posts, comments, and likes on The Wall and Q&A.
4. How We Use AI
To make data entry easier, we use AI (Google Gemini) to read handwritten pedigrees and result sheets. When you upload a photo for scanning, it is sent securely to our AI provider. The AI is used strictly for extraction, and your images are not used to train public AI models.
5. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Your data is only shared with:
- Other users, only to the extent you make it public (e.g., public bird profiles, posts on The Wall).
- Service providers (like Supabase for database hosting, Open-Meteo for weather, and Stripe for eventual payments).
6. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of your data, correct inaccuracies, or request complete deletion of your account and loft data. You can exercise these rights by contacting us via the Help page.
